Hunting

Leaving the Square

Leaving the Square on the Holsworthy Road. Charlie Woolridge (Huntsman), is followed by Dr. King (Master).

Hunting has long been a popular pastime in the parish.

The north of the parish is Stevenstone Hunt territory, but the majority of the parish is covered by the Tetcott Hunt.

The opening meet of the Tetcott Hunt takes place in Bradworthy every other year.

Hunting remains a popular pastime for several local farmers.

Despite petrol rationing and the prospect of plenty of mud, there was a bigger attendance than last year at yesterday's Tetcott Foxhounds point-to-point meeting.

The going was heavy on the all-grass course at Newlands, Bradworthy. The favourites won the first three races, but in the adjacent hunts’ maiden, Confidence, the favourite, fell out with saddle trouble, leaving Sandy Bay (5-1) to win, returning tote investors a dividend of 29s for a 2s unit.
